Top O’the Mornin’, Afternoon, Evenin’ and Early Mornin’ to Ya

Happy (Belated) St. Patrick’s Day! Did you celebrate? I would love to tell you that I partied, but I didn’t. The night before was full of problems with the laundry machines, my printer and my kitchen sink, so by the time I was all done with that drama, I was ready to drool over Timothy Olyphant who was wearing a cowboy hat in the new series called “Justified”. He is yet another obscure crush of mine.

On a very sad note, my cousin is in hospice care, in her late stages of cancer. My mom and I went to visit her today….er…yesterday. She started out with breast cancer, but then just when they thought that was over she got the cancer in her bones, then her lymph nodes, then liver and then her brain and spinal cord. She seemed alert when we visited, but then went back to sleep. So we sat and talked with her husband for awhile. Her two sons have been helping during this terrible, dramatic time. They’ve been beyond awesome. Some friends of theirs also came by to visit. We stayed for an hour and then left. It got to me more than I thought it would. She of course didn’t look the way I saw her three years ago. What I remember, distinctly, is her contagious laughter. My brothers would, not surprisingly, tease her until she laughed harder and harder. She had a great laugh. When we saw her last night, a friend of hers had painted her nails red. I was able to laugh with the lady who had visited that my cousin’s painted nails looked much better than ours.

Anyway, so before all that, I had to work today and we were fed during a staff meeting. We all got a raffle ticket for each piece of green we wore, since it was St. Patty’s Day. I won two, wonderful prizes since I wore a green skirt, green sweater, shamrock earrings and a green necklace. I won a water bottle with my company’s logo on it and a thingy for my license plate. Stay back! Don’t swarm around my loot, don’t be jealous. We had good food, though…and some tasty desserts!

Yeah, so that’s about it. Quite frankly, I’m exhausted and need to sleep. G’night!

  1. I’m so sorry about your cousin. What a thing for a family to endure.

Hey, I sensed a bit of joking about your swag, but watch your back…I NEED a water bottle and a license plate frame ;-)

BTW, since I like Timothy Olyphant too, I have to tell you that you have great taste in men!

  2. That’s so sad about your cousin – it’s so nice that she’s got her family with her though. Thinking of you all.

As for St. Patrick’s Day … I totally forgot to be honest!

  3. I’m sorry to hear about your cousin as well.

I am so totally jealous of your loot, but I don’t need a water bottle or a license plate frame. I’m just jealous that you won. I didn’t wear anything green on St. Patty’s Day.

  4. wow. I am so sorry for your cousin. My thoughts and prayers go out to her, you, and the family.

I didn’t do anything for St. Patties, although I did hang out at the local coffee shop and shared some laughs with some fellow customers. Good times! A lady I didn’t even know let me borrow her David Sedaris audiobooks. How nice is that?!

  5. That is so sad about your cousin.. You are all in my thoughts and prayers..

That’s great that you won a couple of prizes.. It’s nice that your company does that..

Congrats again on your Blog Award..!

  6. Sounds like you had quite the week. Like everyone said, I’m sorry to hear about your cousin. And I’m really glad that your family has a chance to spend some time with her. It really is a wonderful thing to have that time.

And I’m so happy you won all that stuff! You’re definitely very lucky! Ever thought about buying a lotto ticket or going to a casino? :) Winning prizes is fun! And I wore green too for St Patrick’s Day.

  7. Churlita: St. Patrick’s Day seems like New Year’s Eve, doesn’t it? Everyone expects people to party like crazy.

Laura B: Ah, you’re part of the Olyphant fan club? One of the many reasons why I like you! You have great taste in men as well! Have you watched “Justified” yet? If not, you should catch it this Tuesday (10pm EST). ;)

Tim: You forgot to be honest? Perfect, you must have known about the blarney stone! You’re fine. Did you wear any green?

AlienCG: I think the day would be all off if I didn’t dress in at least one green thing on St. Patty’s Day. I didn’t have corned beef, so that felt weird enough.

Seb: Sounds like you had a great time at that coffee shop! And to be able to borrow an audiobook from someone is a fun surprise!

Laura B: Moi??? Thank you!!! I have finally posted about it! :)

BabyBull: Thank you! You have an award now too!

  8. I’m so sorry to hear about your cousin. And that’s very nice of you and your mom to visit her. It’s an important thing you did–to use whatever time you have left with her to remind her that she is loved and that is a good thing.

And congratulations on winning those prizes at work! That’s a good day at work! You sure are lucky! Ever thought about going to a casino or buying a lotto ticket?
