Written Word Blogathon – The Story Continues……

BabyBull started an interesting game to see how far we could take a story, one paragraph at a time. She was first, then tagged AlienCG who then tagged Churlita. Here is what has been written so far, and since Churlita tagged me, I created the last paragraph….or rather the last paragraph so far! Here we go!

Here is the first paragraph and the beginning of the story written by BabyBull:

“The sun was edging on the horizon, peaking through silver slits of clouds. She sat there watching, waiting for the end of days. On this day she had wished for a fresh new start. Oblivious to what was really happening to her. She couldn’t shake that feeling of being watched. She didn’t know who or why, but she felt it.”

Then AlienCG’s paragraph:

“She looked over her shoulder, but saw nobody there. The feeling stayed with her as she got up and started to walk back toward the house. A rustling in the bushes caught her attention as she nervously peered in, squinting to see who or what was there. A squirrel ran out and toward the large oak tree. She jumped, but knew that wasn’t what made the noise. She looked in again and said in a low-pitched squeak, ‘Hello?'”

Here is Churlita’s paragraph:

“There was no reply. She didn’t really think she’d get one, but it was worth a shot. The only way to really know what was back there, was to suck it up and take a second, better look. This time, she carefully separated the branches to be able to see better in the back of the bushes. At first it just looked like a large rock, but then she saw the two thin arms, bent and reaching up to cover his head. It was a young boy, curled up in the fetal position, and trying to make himself disappear.”

My paragraph:

During such strange times, she expected to wake up and realize she was just dreaming. At this moment, however, she realized this was all too real. Her head started to get tight, her heart hammered threateningly. She couldn’t run away from this scene, not with a child lying helplessly at her feet. She carefully knelt down, took the wool scarf from around her neck and quickly wrapped up the child, sheltering him from the cold, bitter wind that had suddenly whipped through the trees. She cradled and comforted the boy in her arms and stood up. Just inches behind where she stood, a thick branch snapped.

Okay! Time to tag someone for the next paragraph! I tag Laura B.! You up for it, Ms. B.?

March! …2…3…4…

Hey all! March will be here next week! You know what happens in March? Spring arrives! I can’t express to you how happy I’ll be when Winter finally ends. I know that in March and on into April we still get freakish snow and ice storms. The local weatherman calls them “renegade storms”. But when March 20th rolls in, we can at least expect a decreased viewing of the white stuff.

Anyway, enough of that rambling. If you have any whacky, crazy holiday ideas brewing in your heads, please post them in the comments section of this post so that we can build the Eclectic Days of March! Go team, go! Thank youuuu!!

Dietrich Hall (farther back)

Here’s a photo taken last May of Baldwin-Wallace College. A nice, green, snowless lawn. Ahhhh, I can almost smell the grass clippings.

Violet Blossoms

Here is another shot taken last May. These flowers bloom in front of the church I go to for choir practice.

Work Shtuff

– Happiness is having a conversation with two guys at work about horror movies.

– A coworker of mine came in today and wanted to change our upcoming graduation ceremony because it’s scheduled for the day before Good Friday. I told him that the invites and announcements were already sent out, so he accepted it. Then he said, “I’ll be blamed for all of it anyway.”

To which I replied, “I won’t think it’s your fault!”
Then he said, “You don’t count.”
I knew what he meant, but responded with, “Oh thanks a lot!”
But as he walked away he shouted, “It’s a good thing!”

Nobody else noticed that it was going to be the day before “Good Friday”, but people did notice our ceremonies would be held on “April Fool’s Day”. Therefore, I figure if there are any mistakes made that day, I can just blame them all on “April Fool’s Day”!

“Form of….an Ice Dragon!”

I really like these results.

You Would Be a Upstanding Superhero

You are alert and observant. You can see through people easily. You know who’s evil and who’s good.

You need a lot of freedom in your life. You like to do your own thing, and you don’t fit into any normal mold.

You understand people quite well and often know what others are thinking. Because of this, you can get people to do what you want.

You are a shapeshifter who fits in with almost any group. You can get along with anyone. You’re quite flexible.

You are a true philosopher. You are thirsty for wisdom. You are trying to figure out the meaning of life.

Tires and Too Much Info

– I went to choir tonight, had a good time. I did hear a little too much information from the Cackler, though, before practice. We were all situated in our seats and the three of us; me, the Cackler and my friend C, were talking about our pets. Riveting, I know! The Cackler told us about how her princessy cat tries to wake her up. She paws the blankets and then shoves her nose under the covers. The Cackler then said, “But she doesn’t do that long, because she doesn’t like the smell…” I tried to evict the thought I had in my head from that comment, but then she, to my horror, clarified, “I haven’t washed the sheets in awhile.” Ah. High on my list of things I didn’t need to hear, but if she’s able to divulge such info then more power to her, I guess.

– It was so foggy outside tonight after choir. Pretty mysterious and creepy, like a scene ripped out of “The Wolfman”. I wanted expected Benicio Del Torro to come popping out of the woods.

– Oh I decided to get a much-needed oil change this past weekend. I printed out a coupon, too, it was a good deal. While standing in line, I saw some moody lady with a pony tail give some sass to the mechanic who was being very patient with her. She practically threw her bundle of keys at him when he asked her for them. Then he said that she could have some coffee while she waited. “No,” She said as she projected her voice across the store. “I don’t drink coffee, but that’s fine.”  The next person stepped up, found out it would take awhile for an oil change, and she left all pissed off. I had time, it was Sunday and I needed it done. So as I was getting my address all updated and such, a guy pulled up outside with a motorcycle and strutted on in. He informed me that I had come to the right place, and that the guy who was waiting on me was a good mechanic. I said, “That’s good to know!” It was good to know, I didn’t want to throw my poor car into the hands of a sadistic quack. Anyway, the mechanic told me that it would take awhile for the oil change, so I gave him my cell phone number and told him I’d be in the area doing some shopping.

– I am so grateful that I live in a location where I can just turn and there’s some place to shop. It doesn’t sound very scenic or romantic, but it’s a nice diversion if one must wait for their car or anything else. I was going to go to Office Max to do some shopping for good pens, but instead I stopped at the clothing store nearby. I wasn’t expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was amazed at the multitude of cute shirts they had in stock, so I shopped, tried things on and shopped some more until my cell phone rang and the mechanic said he was finished.

There was a bit of  a snag, though. Part of the deal was that they would rotate my tires. He said he couldn’t because the back tires had some uneven wear and they’d just make more trouble if they were rotated. “You need new tires, is my point.” I asked if I needed all of them replaced, and of course he said they ALL needed to be replaced. I did not give in at that time about the tires, but I did give in to their offer to replace my wiper blades. I love my new blades, they’re so thorough. Anyway, I will need to replace my tires, but not there.  My car sounds happier now that I had the oil change, though.

– That’s all I’ve got right now! How was your weekend? What did you do?
