October 2008! Yusss!!…I Mean…Boo!

That there is the supernatural mystery team from the cartoon “Scooby Doo”. I loved that show, and I’m sure I’ve mentioned it in the past a few billion times. Anyway, the shows usually ended the same, but I loved the spooky stuff they encountered. What the hell is wrong with me? I’ve liked this stuff since I was a kid and I STILL love it! Eh, don’t wanna analyze it.

October is my favorite month. Why? Because at the end of that month is one of my favorite holidays: Halloween. Oh the memories. When I was a kid, my mom would make my costume for me, and she was amazing. I was Princess Leia, the Genie from “I Dream of Genie”, Diana from the show “V”, Marge Simpson…you name it! As an “adult”, I still love looking at costumes and decorations, picking out the right costume, spending too much on it cuz odds are I’ll never be the same character again…Plus of course the candy that you “accidentally” bought “too much” of for the kids of the neighborhood. Oh darn. Sadly, we don’t have the door-to-door thing at my apartment, but really it’s for the best. Safety purposes and all that. Doesn’t mean I can’t dress up for work.

Enough babbling. Here is the list for October! Thanks to all who participated! This time I didn’t even go to the old standby, Butlerwebs.com for ideas. The holidays were either thought up by you, inspired by you or I thought a few of them up myself. Enjoy! And thanks again!

October 2008 Ideas!

Hey all, I’ve been slackin’ and October is almost here! So if you want some holidays listed for the upcoming calendar, let me know as soon as you can! It’s the same month as Halloween, so feel free to theme it around that holiday if you want.  Also, any birthdays or any other anniversaries are welcome too. Just make sure you mention them in the comments.

Here is a photo of a sand castle I made when we went to the beach on Thursday. The door (or drawbridge) is the rusted lid from a tin can. So yes you could say I used litter to my advantage. But I had to find something quick before the whole thing was washed away by the waves.

Saturday Scavenger Shots: “No”

I am so messed up right now, regarding the days of the week. I had to check a few sources today to see if it was really Saturday. Oh and I have a cold. My first cold of the season, I guess! Got it, I think, from my nephew who has been sniffling and coughing even before they got here. Poor kid. Doesn’t seem to slow him down, though!

Anyway, I realized today that I haven’t posted my photo for the Saturday Scavenger Shots! Conveniently enough, I found something to take a photo of when we went to the beach on Thursday.

There was a bigger sign just above this one that listed a whole bunch of things that are prohibited on the beach, and I should’ve taken a photo of that list. Anyway, this one apparently needed its own sign. We used to take our dog to the beach all the time, but not this particular area. It was fun to have her fetch sticks and stuff out in the water. I think they should’ve put up a huge sign that read “NO LITTERING” because there was one section of the beach that was covered in various pieces of trash. I’m sure they have a sign up like that, but then again it should be understood that we shouldn’t litter.

Anyway, thanks to NoRegrets for the word, “No”!

Chee-tara

Thanks to Ms. Laura B. for this quiz! It’s fun! Try it.

You’re a Cheetah!

You are fast. Really fast. So fast, in fact, that many people may
never see you as you pass them by. You definitely have your soft spots, or maybe
just a lot of spots in general. You’d like to think of them as freckles. When
others say your name very quickly, you think they’re accusing you of
something.

The Visitors

I think I posted previously somewhere, one of my brothers and his family are here to visit for the week! I too am on vacation, I worked only Monday and part of Tuesday and then that was it. Time to play….and sleep in…and not stress about work-related issues. I’ve been taking lots of photos, some I’m sure you’ll be enthralled by. Like this one:

Here we have our bucket o’fishing equipment from the other day – with a dinosaur and tinker toy thrown in for good measure. I have more photos to go through, so stay tuned!

Scanned Goods of Another Variety & Other Stuff

I’m looking forward to Tuesday afternoon, because at 3:30pm that day, I’ll be off on vacation for the rest of the week. Yay! My brother and his family are still coming in to visit us. Stay tuned for photos. My mission this weekend was to go looking for bath toys and books. It was a difficult project, looking in the toy department…but I managed. Just for the sake of the children.

Speaking of toys, I bought a few things for myself recently. One was something I’ve been meaning to get for a few years, the other was an impulse purchase. Both are worth the money. Here’s my much awaited gift:

This is one of my favorite shows on the Discovery Channel. For awhile they were only airing the show at 2pm on weekdays, so I could never catch it. Then they started airing two in a row starting at 1pm and another at 2pm. I can catch one when I’m home for lunch during that time. Anyway, I wanted to buy the DVDs for a few years now. Then I read yesterday that they have seasons 3 & 4 (if I read correctly), so I’ll eventually buy those too. It’s a great set, I was watching some yesterday. There were a few episodes in the beginning which spooked me enough to want to see more. One of them, “The Haunting of Summerwind”, gave me chills. Now, though, seeing that one again…and during the day…doesn’t seem as creepy. But I still enjoyed watching it. They’ll be the perfect thing to watch when it gets closer to Halloween.

“Star Wars: The Force Unleashed” was my impulse buy for yesterday. I saw the commercial for it a few days ago and loved the effects and what the character can do to enemies. Apparently between Episodes 3 and 4, Darth Vader takes on a secret apprentice. So this game has the person playing from the perspective of the young apprentice who’s supposed to battle all sorts of people, creatures and machines for Darth Vader. He can do all sorts of things to his enemies – electrocute, hit with his lightsaber, force push (sends a wave of energy to knock out the enemies), etc. My favorite maneuver, so far, is that the character can lift up an enemy using “the force” and then with another button he can impale the person with his lightsaber. It’s pretty awesome. Not bloody, though, but it gets the point across. Money well spent.

So that’s about it for now, I’ve gotta get ready for work. Oh! And I have a few new outfits too from when my mom and I went shopping on Friday afternoon! I had half of that day off because I worked on Saturday. So we literally shopped till we went home to my apartment and then dropped on the couch.

How was your weekend? What did ya do?
