And I Quote…(Halloween version) – Revised

Remember when I quoted from some movies for Valentine’s Day? Well if you thought that was fun for me, imagine the damage I could do with Halloween! Muuuuah ha ha. Yeah, so a few nights ago I started thinking of quotes from scary movies. Some of the quotes and/or dialogue aren’t really scary, in fact some are funny. But I got them from movies that are supposed to be scary. Enjoy!

*****

REVISED…As I’m looking down this list it did dawn on me that I may have gotten carried away with all the quotes. It takes me a half hour to scroll down to the end of the post. So I trimmed off some and kept some of my favorites.

*****

Dr. Peter Venkman: (Talking to a ghost) “So where are you from….originally?” – Ghostbusters

Tangina: “It lies to her. It says things to her that only a child can understand. To her, it simply is another child. But to us, it is the beast.” – Poltergeist

“Are you scared child? Are you afraid? Well then why don’t you come with me.”
– Poltergeist 2: The Other Side

“I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized that what was living behind that boy’s eyes was purely and simply… evil.” – Halloween

“It knows my name! The house knows my name!” – The Haunting (you know I love that movie)

“Last night I thought I heard thunder. Turns out it was just Satan’s stomach growling. You’re the one soul he’d come up here to collect himself.” – Constantine

“Have you checked the children?” – When a Stranger Calls

“Wendy? Darling? Light, of my life. I’m not gonna hurt ya. I’m just going to bash your brains in.” – The Shining

“There’s a monster outside my room, can I have a glass of water?” – Signs

“There was an accident. A lady was hit by a car. She died.”
“Oh my god, how do you know that? Did you see it? Where is she?”
“Standing next to my window.” – The Sixth Sense

“No one lives any nearer than town. No one will come any nearer than that. In the night…in the dark.” – The Haunting

“‘Beware the full moon…
“‘And stick to the road’…Oops.” – An American Werewolf in London

“Ah listen…the children of the night..What sweet music they make.” – Dracula

“Prince Imhotep thanks you for your hospitality….and for your eyes and for your tongue. But I’m afraid more is needed.” – The Mummy

“Fear not, little one. I am here to protect thee.” – The Omen

“We’d better get back, ’cause it’ll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night… mostly.” – Aliens

Newt: My mommy always said there were no monsters – no real ones – but there are.
Ripley: Yes, there are, aren’t there?
– Aliens

“In the absence of light, darkness prevails. There are things that go bump in the night, Agent Myers. Make no mistake about that. And we are the ones who bump back.” – Hellboy

“They call them the haunted shores, these stretches of Devonshire and Cornwall and Ireland which rear up against the westward ocean. Mists gather here… and sea fog… and eerie stories…”
– The Uninvited

“What an excellent day for an exorcism.” – The Exorcist

“The wreckage sank, with all the men aboard. At the bottom of the sea, lay the Elizabeth Dane, with her crew, their lungs filled with salt water, their eyes open, staring into the darkness. And above, as suddenly as it had come, the fog lifted, receded back across the ocean and never came again. But it is told by the fishermen, and their fathers and grandfathers, that when the fog returns to Antonio Bay, the men at the bottom of the sea, out in the water by Spivey Point will rise up and search for the campfire that led them to their dark, icy death.” – The Fog (I got the shivers reading this quote again. That’s good stuff.)

Vicky Vale: “What do you want?”
The Joker: “Oh you know, a little song, a little dance….Batman’s head on a lance..”
– Batman

The Joker: “I believe whatever doesn’t kill you simply makes you… stranger.”
– The Dark Knight

Psst….Your Geeky Side is Showing

When this dang holiday, Halloween, approaches I feel like an over eager woman-child trying to bring Halloween spirit (pardon the pun) to her coworkers. My new associate realized that I am very into Halloween. I mean c’mon, I used my lunch break for looking at costumes in two shops nearby. I didn’t eat until I got back to work. I asked my associate if he was going to dress up, and without much hesitation said that he was not. Fine, whatevah. I’m not going to take a poll of people who will or will not dress in costume this year. The proof will be in these next two days. We’re able to dress up for Halloween tomorrow as well as the actual day to support and encourage the students. I’m using my cowboy hat tomorrow as part of a make-shift cowgirl outfit, and then for Halloween I’ll wear my store-bought costume.

Oh and then I bought little gift bags with jack-o-lanterns on them, and then some candy and trinkets. If one is supposed to pump up some spirit within her coworkers, she must give them bags of goodies to promote it. Yeah, I was psyched about that part. I need to be careful with this kind of thing, though, I don’t have all the money in the world ya know. But imagine if I did…Whoa. Halloween and Christmas forever.

It’s Neither Here Nor There

Last night I had a dream that I walked across the hallway of my apartment and knocked on my neighbor’s door. When she answered, she was having a party. I asked her if she had my bottle of ketchup. She denied it. End of dream.

Sat up straight in bed, rushed over to the kitchen, threw open the door of the fridge and….whew..My ketchup is safe in my fridge. Okay, so maybe that last part about waking up startled isn’t quite accurate (aka – just part of my weird imagination). But I did dream that the lady may or may not have stolen my ketchup.

I think part of the dream had to do with the fact that I found my wreath on her door one time, and her yellow ribbon on my door. But to dream that she would be the first one I went to when my ketchup was stolen….I’ve got nothing for that reasoning. Nuthin.

Swingers Day – Go to the Park and Swing on the Swings

I wasn’t able to swing today, but I did take this particular shot a few weeks ago when we went to the park that was adjacent to the backyard of our old house. Always fun to swing, and I’m happy that my brother and my sister-in-law hopped on the swings too!

Oh and since we’re deprived of Evil-E’s “Tuesday Tags”, I thought I’d include a few shots of some graffiti I found on the same day, written underneath the old metal slide.

The little “motivational” message in the top right-hand side in the second photo cracks me up.

Dayyyy-Oh!

I watched the movie “Beetlejuice” tonight for the millionth time. I love that movie, though. Anyway, Alec Baldwin’s character is a ghost, right? Well why does he still need glasses? You’d think the senses would be all corrected.

Also, I’m watching “Poltergeist” now. Again, for the millionth time. Some scenes still give me some chills. Awesome movie.

Anyway, here are some photos and some descriptions for ya.

This year I voted by absentee ballot. I have been procrastinating ever since I got the material, but today with coffee on hand I sat down and started voting. My assistant, Skittles, hopped up on the table and made sure that the papers wouldn’t get shuffled around. She plopped herself right down on the ballot. She’s so….helpful.

This is Frank the skeleton. I bought him awhile ago and he’s one of my favorite Halloween props. Here he is about to enjoy a glass of Red Blood (a product of Transylvania, of course).

Remember the labels my mom found for me at the flea market we went to a few weekends ago? Well I had a fun time putting those on bottles and filling the bottles with colored water….er….the proper chemicals. I’m grateful I had some embalming fluid on hand. Oh and thank you to IDV for informing me of the proper color for Zombie Virus. He said it’s a purplish gray. Eureka, I found some zombie virus. And in order to find some proper bottles, I had to quickly drink two bottles worth of wine. That was the besht partof it. I juss love you guysh…(hiccup)!

Yup, that’s the finest quality of zombie virus right there…”Exquisitely crafted from the world’s finest brains.”

I had fun shopping at the Halloween stores. Even found something for the costume I’m going to wear! More on that in a day or two.

What did you do this weekend? Hope it was fun!

Saturday Scavenger Shots: Burn

Today’s Saturday Scavenger Shot word, “burn”, was brought to us by AlienCG over at “Swamp Gas & Moonlit Reflections”. I have already demonstrated in a previous post how work can burn a person up to the point of venting. Now I bring you an actual photo of another interpretation of “burn”:

My friends and I gathered in my kitchen one night and made a spaghetti dinner. It was the preliminary dress/sari measuring party for Ksra’s wedding. We did not burn the meal and it tasted scrumptious.

I do not usually burn food as much as I used to, but there are still a few things that wind up a little too toasted:

Toast – when I put it down into the toaster for the second time, I tend to forget how long its been in there, and it gets burned.

Toasted cheese sandwiches – again, I’ll put the sandwich on the stove and I don’t turn the sandwich over in time. I wind up scraping the burned stuff off of the bread.

Garlic bread sticks – I think the lesson here is don’t let me make anything with bread unless I’m supervised.

That concludes this week’s Saturday Scavenger Shots. Look forward to seeing who will be tagged next and what the word will be!
