Favorite Sci-Fi Movie Day

I almost missed it, but my favorite Sci-Fi movie is “Aliens”. I saw this in the movie theater and realized that I had seen the first one on TV one day. I remember that part in the first one where the alien pops out of the guy’s chest at dinner time. It was disturbing. But I must’ve forgotten about it until I saw “Aliens” and Helen Ripley’s recollection of the event brought back memories for me too.

The scariest part in “Aliens” was when the main character was napping with the little girl who had been the only survivor of a colony of explorers. They woke up under the bed and Ripley realized that one of the aliens contained in the lab had broken free.

What’s your favorite Sci-Fi movie?

May I Please Have Some May Ideas?

May will be here on Thursday, so that gives us at least three days to come up with some crazy holiday ideas. So if any come to you, please share them with the rest of the class and list them in the comments here! Past contributions have been very clever and it’s always fun to list them on here. Thank you verra much!

Here’s another window from the church. Don’t adjust your computers, I got the photo a tad crooked. This is the window up at the top of the inner balcony. I’m grateful for the zoom feature of my camera.

SMALLER STAINED GLASS WINDOW

sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!

Here’s a list of things, rather than putting them in paragraph form. It’s a listy kind of night!

– When I was looking through the photos I took of our church’s windows, I noticed in one shot that there were some random orbs. Kind of spooky! One orb was rather large and it appears there are two faces in it. It might be just my imagination, though.

– Last night while getting up from my desk to get something from the kitchen, I caught my thigh on the handle of the desk drawer. I banged it pretty good and now there’s an elongated bruise and welt on my leg. I forgot this had happened until this morning when I rolled over in bed. Memories came back via the pain train.

– But enough about my clumsiness, onto the next thing! We had our Spring concert this afternoon, and although it wasn’t exactly like a choir of perfect angels singing, I think we did an excellent job. I’m looking forward to the CD in May. The place was filled, even the balcony. After a few of the up-beat songs, we heard some enthusiastic whoops from the audience. Lots o’clapping, too. Our director’s parents were in the front row and they were beaming. They have helped us rehearse this year for both the Christmas and Spring concerts.

– Our pianist was presented with two gifts for his departure. One was a plaque that showed our appreciation for his 17 + years of being an awesome, dedicated piano player. He didn’t just play on the piano, he would help direct us if our director would split up the women and men for rehearsals. So for that, he also received a pair of director batons.

– It was so hot in our church. The weather was nice outside, but it gets a little stuffy inside and because the fans would disrupt the sound for recording our concert, they turned the fans off. We knew this would happen, but wow. I think we all lost 8 to 10lbs by sweating it off. Our poor director was dressed in a suave, dark suit and he was suffering.

– My mom took me there and also invited me back to her place to have dinner and watch the movie version of “Pride & Prejudice”. The food was delicious, but it always is when mom makes it. The movie was pretty good too. A bit slow in parts, but the man who played Mr. Darcy was well worth it. Piercing eyes. I still love Colin Firth’s version of the character, but this new guy was impressive.

– So that’s about it! Good day, good times!

Saturday Scavenger Shots: “Stuffed”

This week’s word was brought to us by NoRegrets. The word is “stuffed”. I went to our choir’s concert rehearsal today and then we went to a place called Tony K’s for a farewell feast for our pianist. We had a buffet-style lunch and we all ate till we were stuffed.

Earlier, though, while rehearsing, I noticed that the sun was lighting up the stained-glass windows in our church. It was beautiful, so afterwards I took out my camera (I’m glad I brought it) and took a few photos. Here’s the one that really caught my eye:

Each pane was stuffed with various colors of glass. I took a photo of Tony K’s and was going to post it for this, but I decided to just go with one photo this time. Onward to next Saturday!
