Nu Shooz…er New Shoes and Crackahs

My mom and I met at a nearby store yesterday (not Walmart) to do a bit of shopping. To her delight, I finally bought myself a new purse. My flowered purse was driving her crazy just looking at it because it was “out of season”, meaning that she thinks I should have a new purse for Fall and Winter. I was growing tired of that purse too, but I liked hearing her “tsk” and sigh whenever she saw my salmon-colored, flowery purse. Hehe. So new purse down. Onto the next purchase.

I’m not a shoe shopper. I have about ten pairs of shoes at home, two or three pairs of which I don’t think to wear. But shopping day inspired me, so I bought not just one pair, but two! And they were on sale. First off, I bought some black, ankle-high boots:

Then I went down the aisles one last time and decided I needed new sneakers. By the way, what do you call them? I’ve always called them tennis shoes, but it seems weird to call them that since I rarely play tennis anymore. And sneakers…well I just don’t use that word either except for this description. I should call them walking shoes, because they’re comfortable to walk in for exercise. Okay, so I bought new walking shoes. Here’s one of them:

Anyway, those were my main purchases, but I also bought a few things for Christmas. Not gifts yet, but decorations that I’ll have fun using. Then the two of us went to lunch at McDonald’s. It was a really fun afternoon, and the weather was awesome.

Then last night I tried a new snack. Lately I’ve been buying cheese and Triscuits and I slice off pieces of cheese, put them on some crackers and microwave them a bit until the cheese has melted. Heaven. It is delicious. Well I’m out of Triscuits, but I have multi-grain crackers. I also bought a jar of banana pepper rings. I wanted to experiment, so I put a pepper ring on each cracker first, and then a slice of pepper-jack cheese. Seen here:

Then I microwaved seven of those for one minute and….

…here they are! They were very tasty. Mission accomplished. It was a nice snack to have while I watched the remake of “The Omen”. It was the first time I had seen the remake and I wasn’t expecting much. But it actually was not bad. They took some scenes from the original and just modernized some, but some things were new. The nanny, though, this time played by Mia Farrow (who was Rosemary in “Rosemary’s Baby”…which I forgot to quote from in the Halloween post), was okay by playing the seemingly innocent, lovable caretaker..But I liked the original nanny better. Her glare was colder and creepier. The kid disturbed me in the remake…sometimes more than the kid in the original which I didn’t think could happen. Oh and the death scenes weren’t bad either, they were systematic and made things look like freak accidents.

Anyway, that’s that for this post, but I have others. I never told you about my trip to “The Seven Floors of Hell” the night before Halloween!

  1. Now those are my kind of shoes! I’m not a shoe shopper either, but your ankle boots and walking shoes look exactly like what I would choose.

And hey! Don’t forget that Churlita has tagged you for this week’s game!!!

  2. I’ll cover the snack first, because that’s just how I roll. That looks freaking delish. I always get banana peppers on stuff while out – Subway, pizzas, or salads – but it never occurred to be to actually buy a jar.

I say tennis shoes, but also tennie pumps.

  3. Laura B.: The walking shoes, especially, are very comfortable! Plus, I like the little highlights of purple.

Churlita: Thanks for tagging me! I know now and I chose a word.

Furtive Wangler: Thank you! Yeah, they are a bit like nachos, aren’t they?

Tim: It’s okay, we forgive you, we all know what you meant (laughs at Tim while typing this)….So two people for trainers. I kind of like that term.

Daffy: Why thank ya! Have a cheesy cracker thing or two!

  4. Cricket you snuck past me! The snacks were delish, you should definitely buy a jar of those peppers! I also use them when I make English muffin pizzas. Sooo good.

I always called my shoes “tennis shoes”, and although I’m compelled to change, I’ll probably stick to that term.

  5. The snacks are a great idea! Delicious! The boots are rockin! The shoes look great! I call ’em sneakers, because tennis shoes does sound fake, considering I don’t play tennis either. But I can sneak around in them! For me, running shoes are more comfortable than walking shoes for some reason. So, I buy running shoes. Great purchases!

  6. That’s a good snack to havw while watching a movie.. I like snacking on cheese popcorn.. Love the new shoes and with a new purse, you are all set for the winter..

  7. Eroswings: Thanks! And yes, the snacks were so good! I’ll definitely have to make them again.

BabyBull: Ever since I changed from microwave popcorn to the stuff that pops up on the stove, I have totally loved popcorn as a snack. It’s a totally different taste.

Silver: Thanks! I like em too!
