“Time, Time, Time, See What’s Become of Me….”

I did not forget about the fun game “Saturday Scavenger Shots”, but things have happened this weekend to prevent me from posting about it right away!

My mom is home from the hospital! Yay! Most of it is good, the other part means that my overactive worry gland is on code red. Because it was the weekend, I was able to spend some time with my mom while she got used to her home again, and her walker and a new way of eating. Poor chick. She wants to eat healthier, but she keeps seeing commercials for McDonalds and stuff. Her new way of eating though, might be my way of eating! I might have lost a few pounds over the weekend by eating what my mom has to eat. Good times!

Anyway, I usually try to post a photo I have taken myself for the SSS game, but the word “time” brought back a memory of a toy we used to play with in elementary school. It was the Fisher Price Clock:

It’s a little bit of cheating, but the memory was real. I remembered that toy as soon as I noticed that our new word was “Time” (chosen by Missy Miss Laura B.). That works, right?

I Store It

TGIF! I haven’t been playing along with “Friday 5″ for awhile, so I thought I would today! Here goes…

1.What are your favorite storage containers like?
I prefer the Rubbermaid storage containers with handles.

2. What seems to require more time and energy to store than it’s worth?
Bedding that’s not currently in use. I was able to get rid of some recently, but I also wanted to hang on to a few comforters. They are not easy to store in a small apartment where extra space is limited. It makes me frustrated to the point where I feel like just giving away all of my bedding except the stuff I’m using. I’d regret it later, though.

3. What unusual container are you storing something in?
I have some recipes stored in an antique candy tin.

4. What packaged product has a container you really like?
Maxwell House and Folgers both have cool plastic tubs that I can reuse. Then next time I just buy a can of coffee and pour it into the tubs.

5. If you suddenly had some new storage space in your home, what would likely go there?
My ladder, Ab Circle Pro and probably the bedding that gets in my way.

Update!

Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers! My mom’s still in the hospital, and to avoid jinxing anything I’ll say that she’s making progress. How’s that? She’s in a step-down unit and she’s eating more stuff and walking around. They gave her Jello and apple juice the other day and she was in bliss. Almost to the point where you’d expect someone in the next room to say, “I’ll have what she’s having.” :)

Anyway, just wanted to pop my head up again and give you that more cheerful update. I need to start playing “Friday 5″ again and I’m definitely jumping in for “Saturday Scavenger Shots”!

Thoughts and Prayers Needed, Please!

Hey everyone,

I’ve been trying to stay upbeat and everything, but just wanted to let you know that my mom’s in the hospital at the moment. She called me up early Friday morning and said that she thought she had food poisoning because she vomited about 3 or 4 times.

Skip ahead to the emergency room and after a few scans and other tests, and we found out she had pancreatitis due to a gall bladder infection! She has a gallstone. The problem now is that both her pancreas and her gallbladder are irritated at the moment, and they have to make sure the inflammation is down before they can perform surgery. From what I got from the surgeon, he wants her to stay in the hospital between 3 to 7 days, go home and then eventually schedule surgery to remove the gall bladder.

Meanwhile, though, she has had some breathing problems and her blood pressure has gone up, so they transferred her from a regular hospital room to CCU. This wasn’t shocking to me, because this had to be done when she had pneumonia a few years ago. But it’s all very upsetting and frustrating for her and all of us.

Thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated, but I just wanted to give you all a heads-up on the status of things.

Webcam Shenanigans!

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday! Do you have a webcam or a camera built into your laptop? Do you like to quote from and act out scenes from your favorite movies? Check out RoleStar. I mentioned it on Facebook recently, but now that I’m back to blogging, I wanted to let you know here, too. It is so much fun.

They have lots of comedies (“Airplane”, “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, etc.) and dramas (“Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, “Ghost”, “Scarface”, “Fatal Attraction”, etc.) available, and you can choose to play your role solo or play it with someone else on the website. You don’t act out the entire movie; they have a selection of scenes available for each movie.

The Shape of Things

Hello there, amigos! It’s Saturday Scavenger Shot time! Today’s word is “shape”.

Earlier this evening, on the way back from my mom’s place, I had to search high and low for a parking spot under a carport. I really wanted my car to have some kind of shelter because it’s really cold out. I finally found one, but it was a longer walk back to my apartment.

Then I couldn’t find my cellphone, and I thought maybe I left it in the car. I like to have my phone on my nightstand for emergencies. I have a cordless too, but, well I just didn’t feel right without the other one. So I put my boots back on and walked back to my car. We’ve had a bit of snow lately, so I was trudging through caked-up snow. I didn’t find my cellphone, so I went back to my apartment and dug through my purse a little more. It was at the bottom of my purse. I wasn’t settled, though, and thought I had left the inside lights on in the car. I went back out, checked and I found out I had turned off the lights. Reassured, I went back to my apartment for good.

Whew! I guess if I wasn’t in “shape”, that would’ve been exhausting! I’m okay, though, and blogging all about it.

That there is my Ab Circle Pro. It may look a bit sinister there, but it’s a good piece of sturdy equipment. There’s only one catch – I have to actually, you know…use it…to get into shape. I’ve used it more this year, though. If it’s out in the open like that, I feel more inclined to exercise.

Those steps are another way to get into shape! Those are located near Edgewater Park in Lakewood, Ohio. They lead down to the beach, but from this perspective, I was coming from the beach. Anyway, they’re steps.

Some Ketchup….er Catch Up

Nothing much has been going on lately, but back in December my choir had our Christmas concert. That went really well, and I ran into an ex-coworker who was there with his family. They knew a few people from the choir. I had auditioned for another solo, but didn’t get it. I think I had a good chance, but someone pointed out that sometimes the director is just looking for a certain sound. Knowing how particular our director can be, that made sense to me.

The Cackler is the same – very….jovial. The main thing we have in common is our appreciation for cats. She did give me something to think about, though. She volunteers at the hospital, and it sounds like something I might like. I’d ask for more hands-on work, though. Some volunteer opportunities there involve sitting behind a desk answering phones. I do that already at my job, so I’d prefer something different; something that gets me moving. They have opportunities like that, so I’m gonna have to check it out!

Work has been okay, but there have been some cut-backs and schedules have changed. I work 12 to 9 on Wednesdays now, starting this week. At least I get to sleep in longer on those days. The sucky part is that the stretch from afternoon to evening can be long and dull. Plus, I’ll have to be back at work by 7:30 am tomorrow. When I worked that shift back in the days I was in another department, it always felt like I never left, or that I should just set up a bed in one of the classrooms.

Another change happened recently that involves my entering more information into our system. That made me light up, because I love data entry! I really do, and one of the managers just showed me the packets of stuff I’d enter and I told him that I really like doing that stuff. I think it’ll keep me busy, too.

Hi! I think I might possibly be sorta back from my blogging break! It’s been almost five months since I blogged. I’m eager to visit all of your blogs to see what you’ve been up to, but I guess I should finish this blog post first!

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Hanukkah, Christmas, Festivus, etc., and that 2012 is starting off well for you! Did you make any resolutions? I resolved ahead of time to apologize less for things that I don’t need to apologize for in 2012. I tend to throw “I’m sorry” around whenever something bad or even just annoying happens. Some things are out of my power, so apologizing is just making myself feel responsible for the thing that wasn’t my fault.

I went to my office Christmas party. I found a really nice dress and couldn’t wait to wear it. A group of us danced, laughed and had a really good time. Then about a day later, someone tagged me in a photo and I looked terrible. I had no idea I had gained so much weight. That’s when I decided that resolution #2 would be to lose weight.

I put fresh batteries in my Wii Balance Board and weighed myself. I was at 155 last week. I weighed myself the next day after eating in moderation, and I lost 1 lb. I haven’t weighed myself yet this week, but someone suggested I pick one day for a weigh-in. Hers is Sunday, so that’ll be the time I’ll weigh in too. I’ve been doing some exercise, but I’ve also been cutting back on sodium and eating lighter at night. Oh, and I’ve been drinking more water.

Anyway, thought I’d pop up to say hello!
